When it comes to Rockstar Games, all eyes are on Grand Theft Auto 6, counting down the days to its release later in 2026. At Take-Two, however, thoughts are still wandering back to past glories, with CEO Strauss Zelnick confirming that a follow-up to the incredibly popular L.A. As part of the PC crowd, I'm pretty resigned to the fact that, even if its initial November release date sticks, we won't be getting GTA 6 over here in 2026. Rockstar Games will want to let its console version sit for a while, whether that's to ensure the PC version is as polished as possible, or simply to entice you to shell out for a PS5 or Xbox copy knowing that you'll probably buy it again when it comes to the Steam shores. I've said it before and I'll say it again: L.A. Noire is, in my opinion, the greatest videogame ever made. Sure, it's janky by modern standards, and its open world is perhaps a little less open than a lot of people expect from a Rockstar-backed game. But, for me, its story, soundtrack, and then-ground-breaking visual performances bring it to vibrant life. All these years later, nothing quite has the same aura as Team Bondi's rusty detective game (pun entirely intended). Read the rest of the story... GTA 6 developers Rockstar Games have announced the acquisition of Video Games Deluxe, the Sydney-based team who collaborated with them on the 2017 re-release of L.A. Noire, virtual reality spin-off L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files and, most recently, post-launch updates for Grove Street's Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. Sydney-based developer Video Games Deluxe, best known for its work on L.A. Noire, says it is "working exclusively on projects for Rockstar" after an Instagram post suggested it was in development of a new project titled Sowden House. Game Informer’s Blake Hester published a detailed report all about the Bully 2 that might have been and what led to the studio developing the sequel’s downfall. In short, Rockstar New England was pulled in multiple directions to the point where Bully 2 was no longer the focus of the developers who worked there. It sure has been a week for the Rockstar games vault. After accidentally pulling a bunch of their games off Steam on Monday, then bringing them back, some other older Rockstar games got a treat. The PC versions of Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire now include all their DLCs for free. A nice little treat for the back catalogue. Read more

Rockstar has issued surprise updates to LA Noire and Max Payne 3 on PC, throwing in all the DLC for free. Both games have also seen support for 32-bit operating systems "deprecated". Of note: the LA Noire changes do not apply to LA Noire: The VR Case Files versions of the game. These updates were quietly issued yesterday, 19th April - the same day Rockstar somehow managed to delist its entire PC catalogue on Steam before relisting it again (Midnight Club 2 was briefly available to buy for the first time in three years). There is a familiar pattern to media coverage whenever Rockstar publishes a game. There is talk about how the developer has used its newest game to iterate upon and redefine the open world genre. Nvidia has made available a GeForce hotfix driver (version 398.98) to address a couple of issues gamers have been experiencing. One of them is a stability issue when running LA Noire VR with the latest GeForce driver. The hotfix is supposed to correct that, along with a separate stuttering issue for "some configurations in the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta." It's not clear exactly which hardware and software configurations are experiencing trouble.
