They call me the Slippery Matthew Castle. Or at least they do aboard the Cosmic Lung, an intergalactic concert hall overseen by a brainstem in a cloak voiced by Jason Schwartzman. Impressively, this is one of the more rote happenings in The Artful Escape, a quest that also takes in astral highways, rock-powered butterflies and - steel yourself - a passive aggressive skiffle group. Its creator, the fabulously named Johnny Galvatron, describes it as what would happen if David Bowie had gone on a literal space trip to become Ziggy Stardust, and that seems about right. Read more

The upcoming week will bring eight games to Xbox Game Pass, including Final Fantasy 13 and the long-awaited launch of The Artful Escape. This next round of additions starts tomorrow with Signs of the Sojourner and Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas, both of which are for console, cloud and PC. The former is a narrative card game about connecting people. The latter is a party game about disconnecting bits of people. Both are worth a fair shake. Read more

Rock opera adventure The Artful Escape will finally launch for Steam, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on 9th September. The long-awaited and glorious-looking platformer will also launch directly into Xbox Game Pass. The Artful Escape stars Teen Wolf's Michael Johnston and newcomer Caroline Kinley as main characters Francis and Violetta, plus Game of Thrones' Lena Headey, Fargo's Jason Schwartzman, Kingsman's Mark Strong and The Mandalorian's Carl Weathers. Tonight, Annapurna Interactive held their very first E3-like showcase, showing off loads of games they're publishing over the next year or so, as well as revealing new developers they're working with. We saw new gameplay for Stray, Neon White, Skin Deep, and a very special announcement from Outer Wilds developers Mobius Digital about a cryptic new expansion. With only a month and a bit to go ’til we ring in the new year, Annapurna Interactive this week announced that their remaining slate of 2020 releases will no longer launch this year. 12 Minutes, The Artful Escape and Last Stop have instead been pushed back to next year – and while the publishers haven’t given specifics over the trio of delays, they reckon the final stages of polishing all three can’t be wrapped before the turning of the calendar. The Artful Escape is coming to Steam and the team at Beethoven & Dinosaur had some introductionary words they wanted to share! Hello! My name's Johnny and I'm the creative lead at Beethoven & Dinosaur. We're a bunch of space cadets operating out of Melbourne Rock City, Australia. For most of us, this is our first game. We have a wide range of professional backgrounds: music, special effects, simulation, classical art, fax repair, 90's House, ect. Our staff are all above board and not involved in anything nefarious or illegal as far as I'm aware. We're making a game called "the Artful Escape."
