I was shocked by how quickly I fell in love with RoboCop: Rogue City back in late 2023. Of course, the '80s were in vogue at the time, offering those who lived them a dollop of nostalgia, and those who missed them a taste of a time they'll never know, but I didn't expect an FPS game based on an almost 40-year-old sci-fi movie series. Nonetheless, this RoboCop game somehow manages to come to life as a familiar throwback, while still utilising modern mechanics and gunplay. A Robocop: Rogue City update that lasted just 31 minutes on Steam before it was reversed appears to have briefly replaced the entire game with another one. The build that appeared in its place, titled "Hunter," looks to be a very early build of a Hunter: The Reckoning game. Users that were reportedly able to download this before it was removed have shared images of a title screen bearing that name, along with some early locations of a quest where the player is gathering information about a bar shootout. Nacon - publishers of Styx: Blades of Greed, RoboCop: Rogue City, and Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown - have announced that they've filed for insolvency. The French company say they've asked for "judicial reorganisation proceedings" to kick off, with the goal of finding ways to keep the business going, "protect employees, and preserve jobs" while renegotiating with creditors. Robocop: Rogue City is, on paper, the exact opposite style to my favorite shooters. I adore fast-paced, frenetic, and movement-based games where my skill is measured by how quickly (and stylishly) I can act. I'm talking about the likes of Neon White, Titanfall, and Ultrakill. Rogue City, on the other hand, is all about being slow and methodical. You can't run and gun, but you can dominate a shootout simply by standing there and picking off goons one-by-one. As an encapsulation of the movies, it's nothing short of superb, and you can now experience it yourself for the cheapest it's ever been on
