Auditorium Duet , the Kickstarted sequel to pleasing musical puzzler Auditorium, is cancelled. Developers Cipher Prime say that, despite their best efforts and putting earnings from other projects into it, they simply didn’t have enough money to finish Auditorium Duet. That’s a shame. I quite liked the first game, enjoying bending and reflecting rays of light towards musical blocks by placing direction-altering nodes. It was pretty, sometimes pretty taxing, and pleasing to the ear. But not enough for me to help fund the Kickstarter myself so, y’know, who am I to mope? So it g

I just got done playing an all-too-brief demo of Auditorium developer Cipher Prime’s new sounds-and-shapes-a-majig Splice, and I’m feeling quite charmed – somewhat like a snake in a pot who’s trying to decide if he should buy a videogame or not. Last night Alec mentioned that Auditorium 2 was narrowly short of meeting its necessary Kickstarter funding to spring into existence. Well, the good news for them is that they made it, just. With 67 hours to go, they’ve sneaked over the $60,000 target, so it looks like the sequel to a well-loved indie project will be going ahead. It’s fair to say that Cipher Prime are quite pleased, reporting, “There are not enough exclamation points in the world for us to give to you.”

Remember atmospheric, reflection-based music game curio Auditorium? Presumably, despite being received with hugs and even awards the world over, it didn’t rake in quite all the readies it could have done, otherwise sequel Auditorum Duet perhaps wouldn’t be Kickstarter-funded. With three days left to go on its crowdsourcing, it’s at $51,000 of its $60,000 goal, so odds of pulling it off are reasonable at this stage. (more…)

This update fixes the end-of-game announcement thanking users for playing the demo version of the game. Credits now roll instead. This update also significantly improves upon the quality of graphics at higher resolutions. Graphics are now rendered by GPU instead of CPU, allowing for smoother pixel interpolation. Auditorium's native resolution is still 830x466 pixels.
