Fieldrunners 2 is a classical tower defence game, originally for iPhones and iPads and now converted to PC. Is this game of marching men, upgradeable turrets and maze-building as perfunctory as the PC adaptation of its predecessor? Is it as gloriously silly as it looks? It's been four years since the first Fieldrunners the hit tower defense game which was what everyone with an iPhone seemed to have long before Angry Birds took over. Subatomic Studios has finally created a sequel, a rather large game that makes the first one look like a tech demo. The core gameplay is the same in Fieldrunners 2. You drop towers in place to stop waves of onrushing enemies. As the enemies die, you make money, which you can then spend on more and better towers. After a couple of false starts, Subatomic Studios is ready to fire the starting gun on Fieldrunners 2, releasing the eagerly-anticipated tower defense sequel for $2.99 on iPhone this Thursday. (Edit: Removed iPad reference, that one comes later.)
