Watch Dogs had so much promise. The first two entries were fantastic, urban open world games with innovative quests and an anti-establishment message that we see so little of in modern games outside of Final Fantasy 7. Watch Dogs Legion had a clever central gimmick, but being able to play as any NPC hindered its ability to tell interesting stories. Still, that shouldn't be enough to leave the entire franchise for dead. Depending on who you listen to, Ubisoft might have already dug Aiden Pearce's grave, but the leakers can't seem to agree. Attention Dedsec, We are pleased to announce that Steam Achievements are now available for Watch Dogs! As a heads up, achievements will be retroactively earned for the accomplishments already completed in your game. For the sync to happen you need to launch the game once, and the previously unlocked Ubisoft Connect achievements will be automatically unlocked on Steam. Keep your eyes peeled, Hackers!

Spiritually, the first Watch Dogs falls somewhere between GTA 5, Cyberpunk 2077, and the earlier Assassin's Creed games. Watch Dogs 2 had the better writing, and a much more sympathetic protagonist in Marcus Holloway. Watch Dogs Legion was bigger, louder. But the 2014 original was the best from a purely pyrotechnical level - great gunfights, great car chases, and a few solid setpiece missions as part of the main campaign. My calendar tells me we’re now over halfway through April. The Met Office tells me astronomical spring in the northern hemisphere started on March 20. In news that surprises exactly no one, a sequel to Watch Dogs appears to be in the works. This comes according to some poor guy’s LinkedIn page that’s been sniffed out by VideoGamer.com. Julien Risse is a senior gameplay designer at Ubisoft, whose past credits include the original Watch Dogs and its DLC Bad Blood, but the stand out oddity is his mention of an unannounced sequel for the series.
