Former Xbox console exclusive Ori and the Blind Forest looks to have saved Moon Studios from bankruptcy, according to Moon Studios CEO Thomas Mahler. The 2D platformer, which has sold "around 10 million copies" according to Mahler, has since gone on to warrant a sequel and ports to Nintendo Switch and PC in the nine years since its launch. "If Blind Forest would have flopped back then, we would’ve been bankrupt as a studio," stated Mahler on X (formerly known as Twitter). Moon Studios, developer behind Ori and the Blind Forest, is working on a new game, with the studio's creative director saying it's like its "Zelda." Coming up to a decade ago now, Moon Studios released its first title, Ori and the Blind forest, a Metroidvania that was instantly well received by critics and fans, going on to release a sequel in 2020, Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Current and former developers of Moon Studios have alleged that the company is an "oppressive workplace", citing offensive language, harsh feedback and inconsistent direction by its founders. Several developers also alleged that the founders encouraged crunch. Another month, another big video game publisher puts a great big dollop of video game music online for zero pennies. This time, it’s Bandai Namco, who have just uploaded every single Tekken soundtrack onto Spotify because, well, apparently everyone loves Tekken. Microsoft has announced more games coming to Xbox Game Pass in December. Out now is Mortal Kombat X (a well-timed addition in the context of NetherRealm's recent announcement of Mortal Kombat 11). On 13th December Konami's PES 2019 hits Xbox Game Pass. And then, on 17th December, Ninja Theory's Hellblade launches on Game Pass. Also hitting the subscription service are first-person melee combat game Shadow Warrior 2 and enchanting adventure Ori and the Blind Forest, both on 20th December.
