A bunch of older games linked to or published by Disney have just been delisted from Steam in one fell swoop, with the original 90s versions of Star Wars: Dark Forces and Outlaws among their number. Nightdive Studios' quality remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces is an excellent way to revisit Kyle Katarn's first adventure, a landmark FPS that would give rise to some of the best lightsaber action games ever. The long-awaited Star Wars Dark Forces remaster is due for release next month, but its Steam Deck status has already been confirmed. Full verification has been given by Valve, and it's great to see this news reported long before release, rather than leaving it as a release day reveal. The best Steam Deck games all wear the verified badge of honor as it indicates that the game should run natively on Valve's pocket powerhouse with next to no adjustment needed. Now, we know that Star Wars Dark Forces remastered has also earned this verification, which should get fans excited ahead of its release.

A senior environment artist at Obsidian, Jason Lewis, is creating a fan remake of Star Wars: Dark Forces, which introduced the world to Kyle Katarn and the joys of shooting Stormtroopers in first-person back in 1995. These are disappointingly barren times for Star Wars games: only two Battlefronts (and a mobile game) have been released since EA acquired the licence back in 2013.
