A build is one published version of the game's files on a branch. Steam assigns a new build ID every time the developer pushes an update, so this list is the update history of the app. The files inside a build (depot manifests) are only readable with an account that owns the game, which SteamRaw does not have yet, so build contents are not shown.

SEGA has just dropped the gauntlet at The Game Awards, announcing five new games at once. These include brand new sequels to Golden Axe, Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, and Het Set Radio. Wow. These all popped up as part of a sudden and frankly unexpected reveal, for franchises most thought dead or at least on the backburner. Not only that, but there are apparently even more games as part of this retro reboot collection we've not been shown yet. SEGA has been trucking away with a select few popular new titles for some time now. Persona, Yakuza, Sonic and Football Manager mostly. Although

Sega yesterday announced plans to celebrate their 60th birthday by giving away a number of small retro-y games, including a Streets Of Rage-style demake of Yakuza and the prototype of a cancelled Golden Axe reboot. That last one has turned out to be a big surprise for some of the people who worked on it, who do not have good things to say about their experience of trying to resurrect the side-scrolling fantasy stabber. Not quite the pleasant nostalgic jaunt Sega had hoped for, this. Update: Sega have responded with a statement saying they didn’t mean to “dredge up painful memorie
Golden Axe was already an old game when I found it at the back of an arcade in the 1990s. The dusty cabinet only cost 20 cents per credit while shiny new games demanded a whole dollar. It was good value: only 20 cents to become a dwarf who could ride dragons or weird chicken-leg creatures, bash up tiny gnomes for their magic potions, and sometimes summon lightning from the sky. Even at that price I could never finish it, and playing it years later on Steam as part of the Sega Mega Drive & Classics Collection it's obvious why. The boss fights are cheap, enemies burst out of doorways to hammer

This Future Is Disappointing, Part #89: look at Jet Set Radio then look outside your window. Are a colourful cast of rollerbladers grinding down rails wound around your home and spraying neat tags? Of course not. But hey, at least all and sundry can now have a bash at JSR for free, as Sega have made it free for a little while on Steam. Also going free are platformer Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit and ye olde Golden Axe. Grab ‘em now and they’re yours for keepsies! …
Raise your hands if you spent a whoooole lot of time playing Golden Axe on your Sega Genesis. I sure did and never in my wildest dreams did I think it could be finished in under ten minutes. That's exactly what Jason 'honorableJay' Feeney does in this speedrun video hosted at Speed Demos Archive. Feeney offers up insights from his time with the classic brawler on the video's homepage. Here, he brings up my most hated part of Golden Axe: Bonus Stages The first 4 stages give you a chance to fill up on your magic/health after the completing the stage. The problem with these stages is the fact tha
Sega has been keen on releasing its classic Master System and Genesis games lately. The Monster World Collection recently leaked out, and now it appears more games are coming to the Xbox 360. The Pan European Game Information (PEGI) board has rated another three titles. Siliconera reports that Super Hang-On, Golden Axe 3, and Streets of Rage 3 have recently been rated, which is a pretty certain signal that they're coming. Sega hasn't formally announced the games for Europe or here in the States. But like the ESRB, PEGI has a long and proud history of spilling the beans on upcoming game announc
This week on the season finale of Retro Game Master the Kacho takes on Golden Axe. Released in 1989 by Sega for the arcade, this high fantasy side-scroller beat 'em up later made its way to a number of different consoles. In the game players take on the role of a dwarf, a barbarian or an amazon as they journey through the world on a quest to kill Death Adder. This first official U.S. airing of the show, known as Game Center CX in Japan, uses dubbing for the announcer's voice and English subtitling for Arino's. Retro Game Master airs weekly on Kotaku at 8 p.m. eastern on Thursdays. The show a
This season's Retro Game Master ends with a bang as the Kacho takes on... Golden Axe. Due to some technical difficulties we were unable to "air" the last episode of this season's Retro Game Master last week. Sorry about that. Fortunately, the show is all ready to run this Thursday. This week: Golden Axe
We've got another Massive Black artist for you today, which is always a treat. Coro Kaufman is one of the studio's co-founders, and also serves as its art director. Needless to say, his stuff is great. In this gallery you'll see examples from many of the games he's worked on over the past few years, including Red Faction, Army of Two, Lost Planet 2, Silent Hill and even Golden Axe. In addition to his video game work, Kaufman has also whipped up concepts for commercials, toys, TV, movies, clothes and even album covers. He's also putting the finishing touches on a graphic novel called Transient
The sorcerers at Meat Bun have summoned forth a magical set of t-shirts for their summer 2010 line, "Wizards 'n Warriors," celebrating the 8-bit fantasy fighters and casters who made the early days of gaming so magical. The six new t-shirts in the "Wizards 'n Warriors" line continue Meat Bun's proud tradition of creating wearable art that embodies classic video games without tossing it in your face. There's something for everyone here, whether you love blood-soaked warriors, subtle ninja, tiny Viking dwarves, or eggplants. Hell, there's double eggplant love in this batch. As much as I admire
