Released back in 2018, Crashphalt is a free and eccentric multiplayer game in which players do ground-pounds to send out seismic ripples, striving to punt each other off-screen. It's got an "overwhelmingly positive" Steam user review reception, as of writing, but that's not entirely a judgement on its quality. Undertale was, for me, at least, the defining game of the indie RPG genre back when it came out in 2015. Far from just its ubiquity on social media, I remember this thing blowing my mind in ways that, nowadays, feel almost a little pedestrian. Another fan-made Undertale game is now in "full swing" following the success and support of Undertale Yellow. Undertale is by far one of the best, and most influential, indie games ever made. Developed by Toby Fox, who's now working on the episodic Deltarune, it's also had its fair share of fan games. It’s been just about a year since Chapter 2 of Deltarune was released for free, but we won’t be seeing any more from the game this year. In our first 'yes, this is totally normal' story of 2022, we are absolutely thrilled to report that a circus just performed Undertale's Megalovania track in an audience with Pope Francis. yes, you read that right. Unlike the cheeky surprise release of its first free chapter back in 2018, we got a warning about Deltarune Chapter 2. It's out now, also free, because creator Toby Fox says the world has been tough enough lately. The not-a-sequel-or-prequel-but-sort-of-related game to Fox's hit RPG Undertale is still a work in progress, but the newest chunk of story should hopefully keep fans busy chatting and hunting for secrets for a while yet.
