Chesscape Room is leaving Early Access on September 24, 2026! Updates will be rolling out over the coming week as we get ready for launch. There may be intermittent issues along the way, so please bear with us while things settle in. Thank you for playing, testing, and sharing your feedback throughout Early Access. Hello everyone,I have been cooking and the full release is in sight! The most important part of the update will be the much requested online multiplayer feature. Ranked and unranked. But there's more: due to popular request, I have almost created 2+ player modes. Free for all and teams, and ranked too. You can team up with friends and play against others in teams of 2-4 players. Hi everyone! Thanks so much for supporting Chesscape Room early. This update brings a lot of new stuff and lays the groundwork for the final big updates needed to do the full release. After this one, the next update will bring online versus and the final one will provide the final content. After that quality of life updates and AI improvements will be the main focus. Please note that this patch brings user-generated content, but there may be wipes or incompatibilities that occur before the full release. Added the intro campaign. It's meant as a tutorial. There are 10 fixed levels. Three more official campaigns are coming soon! Note: custom game and editor allow you to generate and build levels, to share and enjoy them as much as you like.The first quality of life features were requested and implemented in the options. This patch increases the quality of the visuals a bit and introduces the style preset. The default "plain" look now has shadows that cast and the camera background is not plain black anymore. Additionally, you will find "wooden" and "wooden outdoors" in the options under "Style Presets", which make the board and pieces wooden, and the outdoor version includes a fully functioning day/night cycle. These styles even apply in the editor, so you can enjoy the eye candy there while you put together challenging puzzles.

Tiles painting behind doors in the editor now properly get auto-erased. (Doors can only be on the edge of the board. Fixed knights facing the wrong direction in the editor Significantly increased editor speed for generation, painting as well as loading & saving. Added an in-game bug & feedback form.

My original goal was to release Chesscape Room into early access with just a basic campaign and custom mode, but I'm happy to report that we're going into early access almost fully featured! While not every feature will be fully fleshed out and immediately available, they should become available in the month following the early access release.
