We’ll never get Dungeon Keeper 3, but in a few days we will get Dungeons 3, sequel to a not-Bullfrog spiritual remake that took the long way round to evoking its revered forebear. Dungeons 1 was a hot mess, but in our Dungeons 2 review I felt it made a pretty decent fist of the ol’ monster-management + RTS combat formula. Dungeons 3 , all of a sudden out next week (we newsed it back in February but this was the first I’d heard of it, and I’m the only one who matters), looks like it’s trying to refine that even further. - Many balancing, performance and stability improvements from The Dark Lord Add-on have been integrated. - You can now zoom out further with the camera to get a greater overview of your dungeon. - The campaign button in the main menu now always leads to the mission selection map and loads the last profile saved (campaign progress, skill and attribute points). Thereby, it is now easier to replay maps that have already been completed and to finish the remaining achievements there (to receive additional attribute and skill points). - All single-player maps have been significantly overhauled

Updates to Dungeons have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include: * Added new game mode "amusement" (the goal is to have heroes with full soul energy escape from your dungeon) and three maps: Fluffytown, Playground and Caverns; * Monsters now walk around a little and threaten nearby goblin workers; * Heroes now walk differently, depending on their mood; * Teleport to dungeon heart: not available in own throne room anymore, portal now has a description and minimap icon; * Attribute panel now displays defence/attack

A rip-off? Depends how much you want a new Dungeon Keeper. Trust me, I’m not being mean: Dungeons couldn’t possibly try harder to be Dungeon Keeper 3. An underground empire that you carve out using imps and goblins. A map screen full of idyllic countryside. A Dungeon Heart in the middle of your empire that has to be kept safe at all costs.
