Five years after he left Square Enix, Final Fantasy 15 director Hajime Tabata has shared a little bit of insight as to how things went down. Back in 2018, one of the strangest video game livestreams potentially ever took place: Tabata announced he was leaving Square Enix, a majority of Final Fantasy 15's DLC was cancelled, and some PC port features were scrapped too. Square Enix has revealed that it's not at all concerned about the sales of Final Fantasy 16 so far. The game, released exclusively on PS5 on June 22, shipped and digitally sold a combined 3 million units in its first week. The figure is below recent releases in the series, and though Square Enix never officially revealed sales targets for the game, remains lower than one would anticipate the next mainline entry in the storied Final Fantasy series to sell. Eidos Montreal was at one point in time apparently going to make Final Fantasy 15, which has now been confirmed by a former art director. Jonathan Jacque-Belletête, who used to work at Eidos Montreal, recently spoke with TrueAchievements confirming a longstanding rumour that the Canadian developer was working on Final Fantasy 15. The first batch of games have been confirmed for the "all-new" PlayStation Plus, with some big headliners like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut. Announced back in March, the new, revamped PlayStation Plus launches next month, June 22 (for Europe, anyway). And over on the PlayStation Blog, we've been given a little taste of the games that will be available on the service. Final Fantasy XV is absolutely coming to PC. While we always thought it would, Square Enix have now confirmed that a super-powered version of the console JRPG will arrive on PC in 2018. The original had a lengthy and turbulent development process but was well received when it finally released. It has also gone on to be updated with several bold DLC packs that have transformed it from an interesting Final Fantasy title into a wonderfully strange online multiplayer game.
